The Artist's Studio
at the Farm at South Mountain
M. Clare Sweeney came to Arizona State University in
decades, directed the ASU Writing Center for thirteen
years, the ASU Learning Resource Center for four
years, and then taught graduate students in the
College of Technology at ASU East (now Polytechnic)
for several more years.

Prior to this, M. Clare taught at Mundelein College
(now Mundelein College of Loyola University,
Chicago) and Iowa State University. Her early teaching
career includes working with Martin Luther King, Jr.,
in Chicago’s Lawndale area, directing a Chicago
HeadStart program, and teaching in an academy
boarding school.

She has published award-winning articles and photos
in several magazines, including The National Catholic
Reporter, Alive Magazine, Today’s Catholic Teacher,
and SALT Magazine.

Currently, M. Clare facilitates Journal writing
workshops in the Art & Soul program at The Artist's
Studio at The Farm.

M. Clare Sweeney received her BA degree from St.
Ambrose University; her MA from Iowa State
University; and a PhD from Arizona State University.
She continues to learn from her students.
