Shea Darian is an inspired parent educator, speaker and workshop leader
who presents keynote talks and workshops throughout the United States. Shea
encourages parents, grandparents, and caregivers to transform our often busy,
chaotic 21st century lives with a greater sense of balance and peace. She offers
practical and inspirational tools to build healthy, joyful family relationships.
In addition to her new title, Living Passages for the Whole Family: Celebrating Rites
of Passage from Birth to Adulthood (February 2008), Shea is the author of Seven
Times the Sun: Guiding Your Child through the Rhythms of the Day, Sanctuaries of
Childhood: Nurturing a Child’s Spiritual Life, and Grandpa’s Garden, a children’s
picture book.
Shea also recorded the Celtic Quest CD with Mary Thienes Schunemann and Amy
Chevalier as the women's ensemble, Avalon a cappella. Shea and her daughters
keep the healing music of Avalon alive in their a cappella trio, Avalon Revisited.
Shea received a BA in Speech and Theater from Iowa State University, a Master of
Divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Seminary, and is a certified multi-faith
spiritual director. She has served as a youth minister, minister through the arts,
minister of worship, and Waldorf school administrator. Shea is a sacred arts
enthusiast, particularly in the area of sacred drama. With her spouse, Andrew, and
their grown children, Morgan and Willa, Shea is also an inspired homemaker; she
considers her family to be her most sacred earthly sanctuary.
