The Artist's Studio

than twenty years. Ten of those years
1998, she shifted focus to kiln forming.
Having spent her childhood having her
hands smacked for touching things, it was
no surprise when she chose an art form
that begs to be touched. Jan has always
been drawn to the colors, designs and
tactile response of textiles. That
fascination continues to be the inspiration
for much of her work..
Originally trained in the Pacific
Northwest, Jan has continued to expand
her knowledge base. To do this she
continues to take classes from the Oregon
School of Art and Craft, the Bullseye
Connection, as well as from other talented
artists such as Bob Leatherbarrow,
Richard LaLonde and Richard Parish.
Twelve years ago, she brought her
considerable technical knowledge and
artistic ability southward to Phoenix. The
result is the Refraction Faction studio.
Continuing her artistic growth she has
expanded into lampworking and jewelry.
Now in Phoenix, she spends her time
technical writing, chasing cats, creating
glass art, and exploring Arizona with her
husband, David.
