I worked in various mediums all my life, When I was six years old, in first grade, I
drew a dancer in a green scalloped dress with crayons, directly onto my desktop.
A fine start to a lifetime career in art, although the teacher didn’t see it that way.

I took the usual arts and crafts classes in school, and in high school, entered my
work in scholastic art competitions. In 1963, I earned both Best of Show and First
Place with my first oil painting in an art show in Scottsdale. I taught others to
paint. I worked in oil, acrylics, watercolor, pastels, charcoal and ink (and crayon)
and now fabric, my biggest challenge so far.

I worked in the production department of a newspaper in the 1970s, doing ads
(with ink, no computers then), typesetting, pasteup and proofreading.  After
working as a graphic designer in the printing field for several years, I opened my
own commercial printshop, B&B Printery in Phoenix, and later expanded to
include a second shop. Some of my design work is in a time capsule in Phoenix,
Arizona.

Upon retiring, I took up quilting. Soon I progressed to making fabric art pieces
entirely by hand, returning to the arts.  My ideas come from my life's experiences,
including music, performing arts and my unusual imagination.

The pieces you see here are ones that I have completed in the seven years since I
retired. It takes me six months to a year to complete a piece entirely by hand. They
are not for sale, although in the future I plan to sell limited edition prints suitable
for framing.

Artists are there,
No need to beware,
I sense I have found my bunch.

They ask me to go there on Friday.
Relax enjoy tea, call it my day.
Artists share stories,
Forget all our worries,
Enjoy your craft here they say.

They ask me about my skill.
I say it's about the way I feel.
Ideas abound,
No rest to be found,
I visualize life with zeal.

Ideas come out of the blue.
Real life is always my clue.
See it from my spot,
Give it a fair shot,
And enjoy my different view.

I'm this months artist in awe.
My work is tacked to their wall.
They think I am great,
And I know my fate
is to show my wall threads to all.
