I started my quilting career in 2000. I had taken early retirement
and needed something to fill my days. In my search I found an
article in a local paper about a quilt group making quilts for
wonderful friends and quilts.

As I grew in my quilting technique and color design, I
experimented with different types of cloth. This led me to art
quilts. Art quilts are now my favorite. Asian style and design
has turned out to be a very comfortable style for me. It has been
a favorite style since the 1950s.
My inspiration has come from going to art shows and other quilt
shows. One of my sources of inspiration is fabric pieces brought
back to me from other parts of the United States and other parts
of the world. Africa and Japan are the countries that give me
ideas.

I start my projects in my sewing room, pulling out a color
palette and prints with a thought in mind. I make patterns from
newspaper, cutting out designs that fit my theme. I try to
visualize my project finished when I am working on it. When
my work is going well, I am at a special place in spirit. It can
give me chills and I know I am on the right track. This is a
special moment.

In my current work, I am trying to do some open spaces and
connecting these spaces with yarn and bead work. I have also
worked in three dimensions. It is a thrill to see my work turn out
as I though it should.
